What are holistic health services?

When used in conjunction with traditional medical treatments, such as acupuncture, massage, meditation, art and music therapy, or qi gong, they can help people improve their lifestyles, manage chronic pain, and reduce anxiety and stress.

Holistic health

is about caring for the whole person and meeting their physical, mental, spiritual and social needs. It is based on the understanding that all of these aspects affect your overall health, and being sick in one aspect affects you in others. Our approach is to treat the whole person.

We offer a range of mental, nutritional and holistic health services to our diverse community. Holistic health incorporates complementary therapies that have been scientifically proven to work and, like alternative medicine, focuses on wellness and prevention, rather than just treating diseases. It should be noted that they seemed to be practicing holistically, but not necessarily labeling their practice as “holistic”. Good listening and communication skills during the consultation are essential qualities for a physician using a holistic approach.

While physicians can be educated to place more emphasis on holistic outcome, providing comprehensive care requires greater integration and teamwork in the care chain. Dignity Health strives to make holistic care part of your care and an integral part of the way the entire team works every day. Alternative medicine, complementary therapies, holistic practices, natural health care, integrative medicine: these are some of the terms used today to describe a wide range of healing practices that fall outside purely pharmaceutical or surgical treatments. Percival also suggested a holistic approach to patient care in his book, the first textbook on medical ethics, first published in 1803. Home visits, both by doctors and nurses, are also considered important in the process of achieving a holistic view of patients, their circumstances and their individual conditions.

Fortunately, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), which is part of the National Institutes of Health, once grouped most of these therapies and practices into five categories. They ask about you, your general health and your life so they can make personalized recommendations to improve your well-being. Holistic care providers address a wide variety of wellness issues and use a wide variety of clinically proven therapies, from surgery and pharmaceuticals to dietary changes and exercise plans, to psychological and spiritual counseling. The individual is actively involved in their health decisions and healing processes, including well-being-oriented lifestyle choices.

It is true that holistic medicine allows a wider range of treatment approaches to be used together and encourages open-mindedness to these different approaches. Holistic medicine means considering the whole person in the management and prevention of illness physically, psychologically, socially and spiritually. Patients tend to be more satisfied if a doctor takes a holistic approach, feeling that their doctor has time for them and their problems.
